Inside Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant 2011, Part II: Deaerator Corridor and Unit 1 Control Room » P1020092a

The deaerator corridor disappears into the distance. It’s a healthy walk from ABK-1 all the way down to the Sarcophagus, about 600 meters. Along its length are the four unit control rooms, dosimetry control rooms for each “phase” of the plant, electrical switchyard control rooms, fire control rooms, rooms for computer and control systems (SKALA and its replacements), and hallways branching off to each of the reactor buildings. The image of the hallway receding to the vanishing point with its garish lights and patterned ceramic tile floor is decidedly Kubrickian, in my opinion.
