Here are four of Unit 3’s eight main circulation pump engines. Each electric motor nominally draws 5.5 MW from the station’s 6-kVAC / 50-Hz essential power circuit and moves 8000 cubic meters / hour of coolant in the pump housed beneath floor level. In full-power operation, three pumps on each side (six total) are operating and a fourth is on standby. This room resembles the one in which Valery Khodemchuk died.
